Indian Wisdom

CHIEF JOSEPH PICTUREI am poor and naked, but I am the chief of the nation.

We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right.

Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world.

We do not want riches. We want peace and love.

– Red Cloud, Oglala Lakota Sioux (1822-1909)

In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.

– Iroquois Maxim (circa 1700-1800)

When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

Cree Prophecy

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

– Chief Seattle, Duwamish

Eventually one gets to the Medicine Wheel to fulfill one’s life.

– Old Mouse, Arikara

High in the Big Horn Mountains at nearly 10,000 feet above sea level, lies the Medicine Wheel (above) — a place of worship, a National Historic Site, and an archeological mystery.

It is believed that between A.D. 1200 and A.D. 1700, hundreds of limestone rocks were placed in the shape of a wheel roughly 80 feet in diameter. Twenty eight spokes radiate from a central cairn to six smaller cairns around the rim.

Who built this and why?

No one knows for sure, but Native American beliefs and archeological evidence point to its use as a spiritual site. Many people still come to the Medicine Wheel and Medicine Mountain for inspiration, solitude, meditation and vision questing.

The Medicine Wheel was given protection and nominated to the National Register by local Big Horn Basin communities. The site is protected by federal antiquity laws under administration of the Forest Service.

The ground on which we stand is sacred ground. It is the dust and blood of our ancestors.

– Chief Plenty Coups, Crow (1848 – 1932)

WARRIORThe song that I will sing is an old song, so old that none knows who made it. It has been handed down through generations and was taught to me when I was but a little lad. It is now my own song. It belongs to me. This is a holy song (medicine-song), and great is its power. The song tells how, as I sing, I go through the air to a holy place where Yusun (The Supreme Being) will give me power to do wonderful things. I am surrounded by little clouds, and as I go through the air I change, becoming spirit only.

– Geronimo, Apache (1829-1909)

DAN GEORGEThe time will soon be here when my grandchild will long for the cry of a loon, the flash of a salmon, the whisper of spruce needles, or the screech of an eagle.

But he will not make friends with any of these creatures and when his heart aches with longing, he will curse me.

Have I done all to keep the air fresh?

Have I cared enough about the water?

Have I left the eagle to soar in freedom?

Have I done everything I could to earn my grandchild’s fondness?

– Chief Dan George, Tsleil-Waututh (1899 – 1981)

Grown men can learn from very little children for the hearts of the little children are pure. Therefore, the Great Spirit may show to them many things which older people miss.

– Black Elk, Oglala Lakota Sioux (1863-1950)

Children were encouraged to develop strict discipline and a high regard for sharing.

When a girl picked her first berries and dug her first roots, they were given away to an elder so she would share her future success.

When a child carried water for the home, an elder would give compliments, pretending to taste meat in water carried by a boy or berries in that of a girl.

The child was encouraged not to be lazy and to grow straight like a sapling.

– Mourning Dove (1888-1936)

SPIRIT WORLDBeing is a spiritual proposition. Gaining is a material act. Traditionally, American Indians have always attempted to be the best people they could. Part of that spiritual process was and is to give away wealth, to discard wealth in order not to gain.

Russell Means, Republic of Lakotah
(Activist, actor 1939-2012)

The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air,
the fragrance of the grass,
speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,
the thunder of the sky,
the rhythm of the sea,
speaks to me.

The strength of the fire,
the taste of salmon,
the trail of the sun,
and the life that never goes away,
they speak to me.

And my heart soars.

The Transition

Few will understand this. Even fewer will care to. Sea La Vie. I like to spell it “Sea” Just because I love the C. Smile and wave while your at the Sea and you might find the son. Words I strongly dislike are:

Slacks – what in the hell, who came up with that – nasty. Trousers and breeches – dungaree’s?

Meal as in , lets sit down and have a nice “meal”. So trite I just can’t stand it.

Top, as in lets go shop for a top. Dreadful!

Meat as in lets have some meat with our meal. I don’t visualize myself as having mastered the english language but I think we can do better than meat. But who cares what I think, Im not sure I even care what I think.

This is where I transition into my new Video and song, written a directed by “me”. Not a very graceful segway. Hey did you see the new seaways. Click on the ad below and i’ll make .30 cents. And yes that’s how fity-cent did “It”.

You know what, I’d rather see this

It’ll Never Get Better Than This!

Love, Light and Wisdom to YOU.

The great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When Love and hate are both absent, everything becomes clear and undisguised. Make the slightest distinction and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.

Trust would solve all of your problems now!

Infinite patience produces immediate effects!

Question: what are you talking about?

Answer: The great way (way to be in the world) is not difficult in the absence of desire (preferences). If you can come to a neutral position on all things, then they become clear- they are what they are. To see the Multi-verse in a grain of sand is to see the purpose of every living thing.

Trust would solve all your problems now because all dis-ease is the result of doubt. If we come to believe we are always in the right place at the right time – then we have mastered trust.

Infinite patience produces immediate effects.

Q: What effect does it produce?

A: Peace

This is all there is! Hold up your hands and wiggle your fingers. This is all there is! Sensations, thoughts, noises, seeing, sitting on a couch – are all happening. What is happening is all there ever has been, is now, and ever will be.

This is it! If not Now, then when? Most people search in the perceived outside world for their peace and happiness. This ensures that it will never be found, because it was never lost. To come home to this is a journey without distance to a place we never left.

Once again- searching for peace will fail. Why? Because you have never been separate from it! It’s something one falls back into and is a state of mind. Be love Now!

When you want only Peace, you will see only Peace!

Are you with me? Hold up your hands and wiggle your fingers. This is what is arising from nothingness into apparent everything.

  • THIS IS iT!
  • It’s all it’s ever been
  • It’s all there can and will ever be

When you want only love you will see only love.

One of the first steps to Peace and love is to make a decision about time. When the body drops, do you continue?  Or is this life but one page in a endless series of novels. Until this is decided one will live in limited time. In other words he will live in psychological time. A obvious example of this would be; I must experience all of these things before I die. I only have so much time. Why is this stoplight taking so long. I wish these people would get out of my way.  I have to get mine from you so I can win.

Despite the overwhelming evidence gathered over the last eight- thousand years, from the Sumerians, Egyptians, Aboriginal Indians, etc about life after death, the question remains- “how do you know”. From all four corners of the worlds religions and spiritual writings a common theme is repeated- there is no death. In an attempt to help his students overcome the fear of death, Socrates would bring a student to the head of the class and then bring a human skeleton up and sit it next to the disciple.  “Now look right at it” he then said, “this is you in a vary near future, possibly in the next few moments.

We are seven billion people on a tiny planet in a vast galaxy within an infinite Multi- Verse.

The fear of death must be overcome in order to truly live. Until one has his own experience, whether it be from a psychedelic trip, by meditation or near death experience,  the question shall remain, is this all there is. Just imagine the mind expansion one experiences when he opens to the idea of this life being one page in a great  and shining series of novels.

The evidence of people being born into new bodies while still remembering their prior life is overwhelming. Even to the point of in present time, visiting surviving family members and to their amazement giving detailed accounts of past events.

Regardless of how or why the Schism occurred, it appears that time and death are of our own invention. These personas (masks) we wear and bodies we dwell in are merely temporary learning devices. As long as we are in them, let us enjoy the curriculum knowing there is much more to come.

I have a friend whom I talk to on the other side. I once asked him what I should tell people about death. He said, ” tell them it’s perfectly safe”.

The Waves Bow Down Before You

Time alone, every month in nature, overnight and by yourself will work wonders in your life. Why? Lets assume for this article that you are made up of three parts. Spirit, personality and ego. Taking a brief look at each of these, one will see that Spirit is the all and the always, nameless, formless, it is before time was. Spirit needs no protection as it has nothing to protect or defend. Ego is what happened when we split off from the spirit. Ego dies when the body dies. Personality is how you express through the ego. Persona meaning mask is the face you present to the world.

Klamath River -Alex Williams

Ego and personality are protectors or defense systems that are engaged and on duty when other ego’s are present. When others are not around the spirit can present itself if the mind is quiet. At that time the All and the Always come alive within us. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed as well as Moses all freed the spirit alone in nature, see this article .

The ego and personality are always on duty when crowds of people are about. This is why so many are frightful of being alone and quiet. They are unfamiliar with the spiritual all and the always. They must fill in all moments with jabber or doing some non-essential thing and must always be around people or they feel alone. One will come to see that there is a difference between spending time with yourself and feeling alone or separated. If you will play with your spirit and become familiar with it, you will always have the most highest and loving friend with you. By spending time in nature with this part of you a guide and muse will appear.

The ego and the personality are like the wardens of your prison. They stifle and hinder the Spirit from arising. They are not fit to run your show and are prone to reaction to surroundings. Cult-ure is the biggest cult of all. Ego and personality are continually attempting to franchise the world. How can I profit from this, is the modus operandi. The world of ego and personality is a world of desire, wanting and seeking. They search for glory, prestige, wealth, happiness. When one is around lots of people continuously he can become caught up and swept away with the group thought system and energy. The spirit is content….

I wear a crown, my crown is not decked with diamonds or indian stones. My crown is called content. It is a crown seldom kings enjoy.   -Willie Shake-a-spear

The spirit is always content and unaffected by the ego/personalities doings. It takes a lot of  energy to keep all the worldly seeking and doing going. Many people never catch a glimpse of the spirit while rushing about the world shows at full speed. To live without this Spirit is to be among the walking dead. The Spirit is always accessible and waiting patiently, outside of time.

Religion is for people who do not want to go to hell. Spirituality is for those who have already been and are not going back.

One will never plan his escape from the prison cell of the mind,  unless he first acknowledges that he is in hell. This sometimes sounds like an outlandish remark to the ego. But the ego does not have any frame of reference to what true happiness is. All it really sees is a label he has placed on an experience based in the past. This is relativity. Happiness is then based on how I feel now verses yesterday. Most people only experience this small bubble of

How would it feel to be carried quietly down a warm summer path needing to  do nothing. Nothing to be accomplished, no to-do list, nowhere to be and no time.

We enter this world through the womb struggling to take our first breath. It is not hard to understand why we believe life should be a struggle. Have you ever stopped to ask: What are my greatest fears, what drives all of these struggling actions. Indeed if you are courageous and patient enough to ask you might find that struggle is overrated. If the Spirit is freed then it will direct your steps. The steps you will be directed to take are as light and easy as floating down a quiet mountain path in full bloom.alternative-perspectives-2

Once you get a taste of your connection to spirit and nature, nothing else will do to take it’s place. Once the three are working in balance together…

a light in you which cannot die; whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you. All things that live bring gifts to you, and offer them in gratitude and gladness at your feet. The scent of flowers is their gift to you. The waves bow down before you, and the trees extend their arms to shield you from the heat, and lay their leaves before you on the ground that you may walk in softness, while the wind sinks to a whisper round your holy head. -ACIM

Free the Earthlings!

You don task too much of life, but far too little

What is this blog site about you might ask. Ultimately it is about eliminating the blocks to the awareness of happiness – which has never left you. One might say that happiness can get blocked or covered up with all our seeking, getting and defending.. It is when we simply stop and ask “why am I doing this”, does it bring me happiness, that we might elect to chose differently. Inherent in all of us is complete bliss! Might it be a worthwhile goal, learning to uncover that bliss.

Some might ask about the virtues of struggle and sacrifice and if you feel led to do these things, just understand what it is for. For example, many times it is for the satiation of your very own guilt that you choose sacrifice. In essence one says, I am going to help this person or situation because I feel guilty about not helping this other person from the past. I’ll make up and atone for it here.  Never in a million years did you think to look at your own guilt as cause for your sacrifice.

If one can come to understand the inner workings of the mind, he will give up any voluntary struggle, besides, struggle is highly overrated. He will come to realize that no-one is keeping score, he is not guilty, and has full permission to move about the world in happiness and joy. YOU ARE NOT GUILTY! You owe nothing to anyone, and in fact you will bring about much peace by learning to be happy. It is your single greatest gift to the Universe. Today and everyday from this point forward remind yourself of this and give yourself full permission to be completely happy and guilt free.

Q: I was always taught that God IS keeping score, and that we have to atone for our sins and ask forgiveness.

A: My child, believe what you will,  but God will never have any need to offer you forgiveness, because he has never condemned you in the first place. What has never condemned, has no need of forgiveness. Unconditional Love is just that – Unconditional!

Trust would solve all of your problems NOW!

A business owner sits at his desk in the rear of his shop. Sales are slow, inventory was ordered that was sure to sell but has not. Advertising bills pile up while no customers come into his store. Stressed, he spends more time at work attempting to remedy the situation. His home life is a wreck. He leaves for work before his family awakes and comes home after they are asleep. Finally he makes a decision to sell his shop. Soon he finds a buyer but with one hitch, this buyer wants him to stay on and run the store. He agrees, and sells the shop. The same problems exist but somewhere in his mind he acknowledges the idea that they are not his problems any longer. While in fact nothing has changed, he is at peace now. He leaves home at a reasonable time and arrives back home unstressed and able to spend time freely with his family.

This is the power of the mind. This exemplifies the idea of giving up ownership, of giving up the illusion of control, of submitting to a power greater than oneself.

Trust would solve all your problems NOW!

From my own personal tried and try experience, I can tell you directly and without a doubt that one may experience a tranquility, joy and peace that is NOT of this world. It just takes practice. Thoughts turn into actions.  Since we are in constant practice of one form or another by the thoughts we think and act out, it is with our thoughts that we must work with.

Learning is for change, and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything.    -ACIM

Self Concept VS. Self

ee77525ed5c6f27c39d1bc68b145838dThe state that the Who-man finds himself in may be referred to as the split mind.

It is better for one to conquer himself than to win a thousand battles on the field. Then the victory is yours! No one can take it from you, not angels or demons, Heaven nor hell.   –Buddha

As in this example,  there is the self and the one that can conquer that self. First decide if this is true for you. Have you ever wanted to either accomplish something or to quit something? Did you notice two opposing forces at play. One who wants to do it vs. one that thinks it can’t, is afraid or wants to fall back in the conditioned patterns of life.

It has become the human way to take the path of least resistance. And this is perfectly fine, but for those who want to push the limits of the mind, see what is possible and be projected out into the Omniverse, other paths will appear.screen-shot-2016-09-19-at-10-56-59-am

As we travel along the timeline of life, we formulate a concept of ourselves. We could call this -self concept vs. Self. I capitalize Self because it represents our true Self that has never, and cannot ever be lost. It is your face before you were born.

The Conqurer has no fear because it has nothing to lose and therefore nothing to defend. I like to joke about the Conquer. It’s motto could be “freedom is just another word for nothing left but shoes”.  In this sharing today, I invite YOU to identify with this one. This one has nothing to lose, He cannot get back again. Fearless, a thought is given to him, he takes action and it is done. No bickering, debating or analysis paralysis. screen-shot-2016-09-18-at-3-39-22-pm

And so I say to you NOW,  ” You do not ask to much from life, but far to little”. YOU are the limitless, timeless and infinite water. Dive deep my compadre, take all the self conceptual limits off and dream big dear reader, dream big.

Now if I believe this as I tell it to you, what must I also believe about myself.
