Little Song I recorded with a video I made.
Do you recall this one from early childhood -sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me. I thought it was for the weak and a pretty silly quote. But still in todays world, if one looks he will see that it is a lesson many have not understood. The false self in each of us is proud and defends any perceived attack with attack. Pride is the first stumbling block for man. When the ego is reduced or obliterated there is nothing more to defend. Eliminating pride may be the first step toward ego reduction and elimination. This article would be about correctness verses happiness. A question we can ask ourself is “do I want to be right or happy. Do I want to oppose and be against or do I want to smile and say, right on. If someone were talking to you about devil worship and mentioned that one of the premises included the idea that everyone must be responsible for their own state of mind. Could you just smile and say -right on, or would the pride in you be ready to spit back all of the reasons the other person was incorrect.
Sticks and stones can break my bones but Chinese throwing stars might kill me. Let’s take it one step further. The thoughts that we think determine our experience here. We have some limited control of what happens in our world, but we have full control over our reaction to what happens. If I can remember that one, what more do I need to know. Still if someone is throwing Chinese throwing stars at you run like hell. If they are just throwing words or concepts, no big deal. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they’re usually nasty and need to be wiped out.
The ego’s plan for salvation centers around holding grievances. It maintains that, if someone else spoke or acted differently, if some external circumstance or event were changed, you would be saved. Thus, the source of salvation is constantly perceived as outside yourself. Each grievance you hold is a declaration, and an assertion in which you believe, that says, “If this were different, I would be happy.” The change of mind necessary for salvation is thus demanded of everyone and everything except yourself.
The role assigned to your own mind in this plan, then, is simply to determine what, other than itself, must change if you are to be saved. According to this insane plan, any perceived source of salvation is acceptable provided that it will not work. This ensures that the fruitless search will continue, for the illusion persists that, although this hope has always failed, there is still grounds for hope in other places and in other things. Another person will yet serve better; another situation will yet offer success. ACIM Lesson 71
If we care to look right at it, opinions, grievances and beliefs are designed to separate us from each other. They are designed to make the outside more important than the inside, and when that happens -watch out.
When our Love of life matches the unified fields love for life, we are in perfect synchronicity.
The field is programmed to respond to this Love of Life. How do we get there? By unlearning, by removing the blocks to the awareness of our natural state. The clouds at times block the sun, however if we were flying above the clouds we would see that the clouds are a mere smokescreen that cannot even support a penny. Our blocks are imaginings, built on mental constructs of our conditioned learning in this world. How do we remove the blocks?
When a young elephant was being weaned from nursing the mother, Circus workers would tie its foot to a stake to keep it from escaping. Try as hard as he could, he could not free himself. As the elephant grew to twelve feet high and two tons, he no longer attempted escape, believing it was hopeless he was restrained by an even smaller rope and stake. Not recognizing his great power due to conditioned behavior, completely based in the past. And so it is with us. The body is a prison for the soul. Like the elephant if we cannot see our imprisonment to conditioned response’s, we will never plan our escape, well be stuck forever tied to a tiny stake on a tiny planet.
The only question then we must ask ourselves is: What am I conditioned to?
The mind is the brain in action. The brain contains neurons which connect and form pathways of thought. Neurons that fire together wire together. Our conditioned response is controlled by the pathways our neurons fire on. One of the greatest gift of the earthling is the ability to alter these pathways. The ability to be conscious of what we are thinking about is innate and highly developed in humans. In the genetic code of the DNA lies our ability to fight all kinds of dis-eases. That’s right, because our ancestors hundreds of thousands of years ago was able to defeat a dis-ease, we now in this day and age can also. If the point of evolution is to evolve – lets get to it and do our part. If we always do what we’ve always done we will always get what we’ve always got! If one wakes up in the morning and wanders into the bathroom to pee and brush the teeth, then go and make the coffee, get in the car and drive the same route to work……. See what I mean- nothing changes.
Our Personality will never change until we change our personal-reality. – Dr. Joe Dispensa
If our conditioned response is creating our reality and with the acknowledgment that we can change our personal reality it must inevitably all boil down to the thoughts that we think! With the correct thought we may bring about a Love of Life that will allow us to experience “Perfect Synchronicity”.
One green eye, one blue. Let her wear a silver star tatted on her forehead, let her find us another earth, now that we’ve traasahed this one. An astrophysicist on the cover of Hustler – is that still around? A woman who draws an entire row of eeee’s during scrabble and still wins. The devils daughter but dressed in white. If whatever we think about we bring about, then go find her Miss Multiverse. Should keep you busy for a few. A girl that can make a delicate sound of thunder. Produce her in the flesh. While your busy doing all of that, I can pretend not to have time for it. Avoid any confrontations, direct contact and actually have to care. But hey, Im single by choice, just not my choice.
I shot off into a rant there for a minute, it happens.
I noticed recently that I might be looking for a woman that has never been born in order to not repeat the past. Interestingly enough everything we think is based on the past, is it not. We are all familiar with people who live completely in the past, lost in their memories of long ago, but we usually label such people senile or mentally ill. Certainly we are not among them. Or are we?
In A Course in Miracles one of the lessons ask that I look around the room while I say “I see only the past” in this book, in this pencil, in this lamp, in these photographs…….It took me several tries and then I was able to perceive that we really do only see the past. I’ve heard several speakers over the years say that we have 60,000 thoughts each day, the thing is, we have the same 60,000 thoughts each day. Now I’ve never counted, so whether that is true I do not know. I will say that once you pay attention to your thoughts you will recognize the same ones coming and going.
About three years ago I decided to buy a motorhome and hit the road. I sold everything that would not fit in a motorhome, found a motorhome right down the road that was perfect. She was named Maji the Majestic. Maji, myself and my little dog Mia then hit the road. Long story short. I went out west and sat in the cathedrals of the forest of my mind. I found a incredible peace in nature but more importantly I was able to watch my thoughts. Some thoughts brought happiness but inevitably the same depressing thoughts would come back around. After several months of this I discovered that those thoughts would continue until I brought them up and looked at each one, dismantled them, forgave myself or the person involved thoroughly and then gave that thought to the Universe to burn in the fire of the sun.
I discovered that when a incident occurs that causes you emotional distress it can put you in a mood. If this mood is held onto for a long period, i.e.. I can’t believe they stole from me, that mood can turn into a personality trait. The person that was stole from now is untrustworthy of everyone. We all have become a product of our experiences. We only see the past.
This is just an invitation to take a look for yourself and see what you find. To know yourself puts you on the road to conquering yourself.
A Course in Miracles – Lesson 7
I see only the past.
This idea is particularly difficult to believe at first. Yet it is the rationale for all of the preceding ones.
It is the reason why nothing that you see means anything.
It is the reason why you have given everything you see all the meaning that it has for you.
It is the reason why you do not understand anything you see.
It is the reason why your thoughts do not mean anything, and why they are like the things you see.
It is the reason why you are never upset for the reason you think.
It is the reason why you are upset because you see something that is not there.
Old ideas about time are very difficult to change, because everything you believe is rooted in time, and depends on your not learning these new ideas about it. Yet that is precisely why you need new ideas about time. This first time idea is not really so strange as it may sound at first.
Look at a cup, for example. Do you see a cup, or are you merely reviewing your past experiences of picking up a cup, being thirsty, drinking from a cup, feeling the rim of a cup against your lips, having breakfast and so on? Are not your aesthetic reactions to the cup, too, based on past experiences? How else would you know whether or not this kind of cup will break if you drop it? What do you know about this cup except what you learned in the past? You would have no idea what this cup is, except for your past learning. Do you, then, really see it?
Look about you. This is equally true of whatever you look at. Acknowledge this by applying the idea for today indiscriminately to whatever catches your eye. For example:
I see only the past in this pencil.
I see only the past in this shoe.
I see only the past in this hand.
I see only the past in that body.
I see only the past in that face.
Do not linger over any one thing in particular, but remember to omit nothing specifically. Glance briefly at each subject, and then move on to the next. Three or four practice periods, each to last a minute or so, will be enough.
If you’ll just help enough other people get what they want in life, you can have everything in life that you want. -Zig Ziglar
That quote has always stuck with me. When I started looking at the spiritual practices of the world, I noticed that within the quote, there contains a “whole lotta wanting”. It’s the epitome of the western minds thinking -get,get,get. Now lets look at a quote from the ancient eastern teachings…
Desire is a trap,
Desirelessness is moksha, or liberation
Desire is the creator,
Desire is the destroyer,
Desire is the universe.
And so here we might perceive the attraction to these teachings which are contra to the western thinking. The great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences, no desire for things to be different. The teachings of A Course in Miracles explain the big bang in terms that say, we created the big bang out of our desire to experience our own reality away from God. Here again we see desire as the cause of this world pain.
It’s interesting to look and see that our desire to get, even when satiated eventually turns into unhappiness. We get the car and the houses only to quickly realize we’ve trapped and strapped ourselves with maintenance, payments and insurance. Look what happens to the movie star trapped, unable to freely move about without paparazzi or the entourage at his or her heels. Forced to go to events by contract that he/she is miserable attending. Even the lottery winner whom finds himself broke in a few short years, left most likely with regret. Oh, I realize that many things bring temporary joy and happiness but there is much to say about being content.
I wear a crown, my crown is not decked with diamonds or indian stones, my crown is called content, and it is a crown that seldom kings enjoy. -Willie Shake-a-spear
Indeed, many of the kings of this world have not overcome the ego and all of it’s desire. You can do this NOW, and experience the peace that passeth all understanding, from which joy and happiness emanate. In fact it must be done now, and now and then again until it is your natural conditioned way of being. It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles on the field. No one can take it from you, heaven nor hell, angels nor demons.
Our way of thinking determines our experience here, for we all know that we cannot control all the things in the world, but we can control our thought and reactions to events. This is great news, for the who-man mind is very capable of doing this. Whatever you focus on you will become. The only thing that separates the experience of your desire is time. As quantum physics has shown us “the observer and the observed cannot remain separate”. Whatever one holds within his mind and values will be revealed in time. Change your thoughts, change your life!
How do we use this mechanism of thought. If we say the partner, car, house, promotion, boat, lear jet will make me happy, this is fine. There is nothing wrong with owning things or promotions. Culture is the biggest cult of all. I know, its hard to resist the desire for the Lamborghini, all of the bling-bling and the girls with the fake titties. With some age and experience you will know what has worked and what has not but I tell you now – Why not just go straight for the peace, from which joy and happiness spring forth. It is a decision! Real happiness is not circumstance dependent, it comes from a decision made within the heart of the mind. It is a decision to include and not exclude all beings into your fold. You can come visit my campfire any old time.
If you see a flower growing in the sunshine and you like it, you might pick it.
If you see a flower that you love, you might care for it, water and love it.
This is the open secret
You can never be lost.
When have you ever been apart from me?
You can never depart and never return.
For we are continuous, indistinguishable.Admitting that I don’t know anything is what I call learning.Oscar Wilde observed that the Western mind, given a choice between going to Heaven and hearing a lecture about Heaven, would choose to hear the lecture about Heaven.
We are the center of our existence. If we think of up or down, we think in relation to our body. Past and future are related to now. First we thought we were flat, then round, and the center of everything, now we see that the earth, we are, merely a grain of sand hitchhiking onto a pebble in a infinite cosmic sea of stardust. This fact, does not altogether allow us to become comfortable numb. In fact the mind expansion that this allows is phenomenal. In this age, at this time, this place, you and I are the freest people who have ever roamed the Multiverse. All that “time” and now this. We come to know that we are not the center of anything, that in fact we are merely an Quixotic figment of our own creativeness. A false concept appearing real, a fast cloud, a runners shadow, the spray of a squirt bottle. Eventually all body’s drop. Can you imagine how all these freaks are going to feel looking back at their insanity. I can! I’m one of “them”. Think of all of the Generals who have slaughtered thousands in the mud packed war fields, spilled the blood of comrades and friends – all for a little piece of dirt, on a pebble, in a galaxy filled with pebbles, in a Multi-verse filled with stardust. No, not many will look back from their deathbed and say, I wish I would have spent more time on the battlefield.
Yet what is not love is murder. Without extending love to every being we effectively kill them off in our mind, discarding them as wrong sex, wrong race, unsuccessful, different or beneath us. In this way we must all endeavor to pick up the pace regarding learning to be inclusive rather than exclusive. To extend love, to join with another, to experience together. The only thing we get to keep in this life is what we give away. Live by the sword die by the sword or rather Live by giving love and it all comes back to you. I once saw a bumper sticker which read “Life’s a bitch and then you die”, a few years later I saw one that read, “Life is a joy and then you ascend”. I think we all must choose on or the other. It’s not really much of a choice, is it.
You can never be lost.
When have you ever been apart from me?
You can never depart and never return.
For we are continuous, indistinguishable.
